Welcome to Our Website!

18 years of upholding the meek
(since -Dec. 25, 1989)

On this home page we'll introduce our organization and highlight important areas of interest. Anything you ever wanted to know about the Knights of Bloodstone. We are a votive order...that is: an order based on a vow or oath. We are committed to charity. Feel free to click on the different pages in the index on the left to explore our organization.

There are absolutely no initiations, no joining fees, no membership fees. Just a minimum of one act of charity per month to be a member, accomplish 1000 and be a Knight of the Order of Bloodstone.

So what does it take to become a Knight Of Bloodstone? You must agree to strive to do as many charitable acts as possible. So long as you perform at least one notable act of charity per month you may remain a member of the Order of Bloodstone. To become a Knight, you must perform at least 1000 acts of charity. If you manage to do this in one month you will be given the title of Lord or Lady of the Bloodstone Order.

If for some reason you cannot perform at least one act of Charity per month, your membership will no longer be in good standing, however is reinstated apon the accomplishment of one charitable act and the notable attempt to achieve the Bloodstone Medallion(10 000 acts of charity)

So what the heck is a Knight Of Bloodstone? Members are sworn to perform at least one act of selfless charity per month. If they manage to perform 1000 acts they will become a Knight of Bloodstone. If they ever manage to do this in 1 month then they are referred to as "lord" or "lady" The Bloodstone Medallion is awarded for 10,000 acts of Charity. Apon completing a 100, 000 tasks of charity, or a deed deemed equal to 100, 000 acts (such as finding a missing person or saving a life) the Oswald Medallion is awarded.

The Knights are not stuck in the past but have fun keeping the ideal of knighthood alive. Sometimes holding events, or just hanging out, but always with the goal of doing some good.

The Knights were started on Christmas Day 1989. They began building a small keep in 1993. Although the project was cancelled it continues to grow as many members still add rock to Castle Bloodstone. It was the source of their name and today has more symbolism than function. One stone at a time... one good deed at a time.

All honourable peoples are welcome to join. We do not discriminate against anyone except those who do not strive for good.

KNIGHTLY NEWS JAN 2008

Now that we have the holidays over with, this is traditionally a time that the Order slows down in its opperations. In fact we have experianced a slight rise in reported acts for January so thats pretty good.
Hot Topic: Redtail
Several members have expressed concern over the 2- 300 acres of forrest set to be clear cut in Elmfield. Now land owned by Knights and members of the Order of Bloodstone is referred to as "Dales". Bloodstone Dale is 4.5 acres of protected land for example, as well as many other priavtely owned lots of members in our order, these are also protected. The problem the Redtail Society faces is that they do not own the land they are trying to protect, however have placed a fair offer and been rejected.
Where does the Order of Bloodstone stand on this issue? It is in our code of honor : Hurt not the trees or the grass, nor any green thing. Therefore we do consider the act of clear cutting a deplorable method of managing a renewable resource. Several of our members have taken it apon themselves to support this cause, and thier actions can indeed be recorded as charitable acts.
It has however been decided that the Order as a whole will maintain a neutral stance, as the act of fighting a clearcut is not an act of direct charity. We do recognise it as an act of indirect charity though so any member acting and reporting individually may claim actions helping Redtail.
We will however, consider aiding in its restoration  if in future there is such a need. So this year we would request that seed be collected from all the dales as a precaution to aid the ferral stage of a new forrest growth. It would not be recommended to replant commercially viable species. So landowners please contact the council.
Hot Topic: American Politics
Thank you for your suggestions.... we don't care about politics.

Website: we will be redesigning the website at te end of the month..yes we'll still have those darn pop ups because we spent the money on ..you guess it..charity.
This month is Addictions Month, we support all causes of charity,  but this month we are encouraging people to donate to causes that involve addictions.
There is talk of making next month Elderly month but that hasn't been decided on as of yet. March will be dedicated to depression and suicide prevention, because those months are awful for that sort of thing.
Recruitment: if anyone wants to invite thier list to join, be our guest. full enrollment is still available through the facebook site. To answer another question, if you leave facebook are you still in the Order? Yes the order is not only on facebook. were 19yrs old... facebook is new to us. We do want to encourage more growth though so lets get people interested in helping out.

Well were still mid month here...so any suggestions are welcome as per usual. all comments are always valued.
Sincerely
Order Of Bloodstone High CouncilKnightly News December 2007

Once again we welcome many new members! Its been another great month, Once again the council wishes to pass on its thanks and admiration to all reporting members. Every little action helps make this world a better place to live. Many of us live day to day lives in a day to day world. Being a Knight of Bloodstone is a commitment to do good things throughout your lifetime. To vow yourself to the greater good is something amazing. As we have had several members and friends and or family of members pass away this year we can more understand the values that bind and that material things cannot be taken with us, but the love and brotherhood between friends remains and is something that endures forever.

This is a special month for the Order. December 25 is the day that the order was formed way back in 1989. This month is always dedicated to our membership and the cause of charity for the season.

Several issues arose in November that we feel we must adress.

1. Do you still perform funeral salutes.

Yes, this is when swords are drawn in salute during the funeral of a member only. The member themselves must request this in advance in writing. Alternatively in the absence of enough members in a designated area a bearing sword is layed down in front of the casket during the funeral. For deceased members already interred a bearing sword is stuck in the ground in front of the stone for the duration of amazing grace then it is drawn in salute.
..and thats all anyone ever wanted to know about the whole depressing ordeal...

2. Why is Christmas celebrated and acknowleged by the Order if you are multi denominational?

As you know, we only require that a member believes in a singular higher power. We have not justified ourselves as worthy enough to name said power. Knights may be Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddist etc.We are really only interested in if you can vow to perform one good act of charity a month. We are not a religious organization and believe that there are good people everywhere. Those are the ones who step up to become Knights of Bloodstone. That said, the symbol of our order is the cercelee cross and we were formed on Christmas Day 1989.

3. Coats of arms?

Sorry the coats of arms are sooo behind now its not even funny. There has been talk of making an award of arms a reward of service. As it stands right now you may still submit your unique design to be recorded as your coat of arms.

4. Events?

Events..yes..events..there has been little going on for events. We have a working class demographic right now with very little free time. There has been talk of reviving the Golden blade award for fencing. Any and all recommendations are welcomed.

5. Donations in the name of the Order

No we never donate in the name of the order. The Order is ment to encourage the individual to to perform actions of charity. We want to encourage your own quests and your devotion to your own causes throughout your lifetime. It takes a special action of the high council to approve donations in the orders name.

6. Help submission tool

As you know there has been a help submission tool on our website, unfortuantely, we have no available knights to take on any more requests. This has actually led to a backlog and deminished our ability to deal with help requests. we will continue to work the existing requests. Any suggestions are welcome.

7. RECRUITMENT !!!!

To put it simply, the more new members we have the more people who have taken it to themselves to do good things. We therefore want to recruit as many people to this order as possible. This translates into real world actions that help better humanity.

Facebook- yes facebook members become FULL members for life. Members do not have to be connected to facebook or be part of the facebook group to be a member. We still recruit through traditional means. You will note hoever the facbook group gets updated faster than the website.

The Order of Bloodstone is a votive order, that is an order based apon a vow. members vow to perform one act of charity per month no matter how big or how small. After 1000 acts are performed the member becomes a Knight of the Order and is awarded the Bloodstone Cross.

Thats all for now guys... this month we will have 2 postings.. write in and let me know if you want anything in the next newsletter!!!

Knightly News November

Hello all!

First let me start by once again welcoming our new members, and congrats to our membership as a whole for such diversity in your work. This month, which we dedicate to our veterans, we have had reports of charitable work being done for cancer research, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Epilepsy research, childrens charities, work with the elderly, help for sick and dying animals, medical first reponders, members responding to house fires, and all forms of contributions to the poor and the homeless...whew!

It takes a special kind of person to do these things. People who have the vision to see thier lives through heavens eyes. People who are destined to be the heros of thier own lifes stories. Those who leave something positive behind when they pass on and take with them the honor of a life well lived. Some of the reports I have read sincerely make me want to send out a salute to you all.

For Veterans day I would like to acknowledge our veterans and fallen heros.

I recently was posed a question, which I thought I would answer in this mass email. The member asked "My town is well off and I can't find anyone to help out. What if there are no poor people where I live?" Well, first of all there are other areas that you can work in, and the poor is a great area of work but you can also contribute to your community. There are police charities for example that you could contribute to, local fire departmenst and religious organizations that support missions where help is despirately needed. Yet, I would like to highlight something that gets overlooked... spiritual poverty. even in rich areas, there are those who are spiritually poor. the lonely, the outcasts, and the forgotten. Lonliness and rejection are rampant everywhere. Our aging population is often shut away and forgotten about. Yes visiting such a person is an act of charity you could perform. The rejected, are also everywhere often just beacause they are a little different. I would suggest you extend the hand of friendship whenever you can, you will find it rewarding.

Interestingly I decided to look up what I called spiritual poverty and I found a link to a video called "Poverty of the Heart Advice from a Saint"
The Order of Bloodstone is not associated to any religion, but persons like the Dali lama, Padre Pio, and St Teresa are recognised by our order due to thier devotion to charity. You may find this video inspiring.

Well, the facebook membership has been so amazing, and now that we are caught up on the paperwork. (130+ members now)... Invite your friends...lets max the order out! Lets inspire charity everywhere!

May you be blessed in all your works!

THE KNIGHTLY NEWS    (October)

Hello all! So usually the Knightly News is a monthly thing, but lately things have been moving along rather quickly and it seems prudent that we update our newer members on whats been going on.

First off, I welcome the new members who have signed on even since our last news post last week, we are still growing at an amazing rate.

As a special note, we would like to send out a special message to our members who are currently dealing with severe sickness and or the loss of a parent, family member, or loved one. Out hearts are with you in these times, for they're times we must all face.

On a happier note, reports are pouring in at an amazing rate, and we've been working overtime to verify and record them all. New Members should know that no act of charity is too small, it will be assumed that since you have joined the order you will perform at least one act of charity per month, these will automatically be credited from this point on. However, to become a Knight of Bloostone you must perform 1000 acts of charity, so you may wish to report more tahn just one per month. This may be done in person, or through our online submission tool found on our website.

http://castlebloodstone.tripod.com/

You will also find other information on the website about our order, although you may find the facebook site updated more regularly.

Here are some recent posts We wanted to include in this issue of the Knightly News:

Welcome all new members, it is profoundly heartening to see such an interest in the order. It wouldn't matter if there were only a handful of us, acting for the purpose of good or selflessly helping others is the only way to try and reverse the ever darkening spin the population of this small planet tends toward. I think I speak for the Lord Sovereign and the other officers when I wish you all the best of luck in your venture toward knighthood.

-Lord Christopher Scanlan, Paladin Of the Order of Bloodstone

Welcome all old and new members. It's so nice to see so many new people joining us in the last little bit. Always a pleasure to see people out there trying to do good in the world.

-Lord Daniel Allan, Paladin of the Order of Bloodstone

If you have a request for help from the Order, you may submit it using the HELP tool on the website...or you may want to paste it to the facebook site. Here is a post by one of our members we felt should be included in our newsletter. This is an appeal from the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Looking to rack up charitable acts..heres a good opportunity:

Hello all and once again welcome to our new members! We are now in excess of 100 members, numbers we havn't seen in a long time! Thats at least 100 acts of charity being performed by the Order every month!

Theres alot going on lately, reading reports of members looking after abandoned or abused animals, members have been donating to charities such as the Epilepsy foundation,Institute for the Blind, Cancer society, Diabetes, the United Way, Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and the local food bank. I also have reports of care for the elderly. YOU GUYS ROCK!

I would also like to mention a good idea brought forward by one our Knights about helping with the gift baskets for our troops, this is a great idea to support our troops, even if you protest the war we all are concerned about our troops.

Canadian members may want to check out: http://www.redfridays.ca/
U.S. members may want to check out : http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/index.aspx

The Order of Bloodstone is an international organization but is proudly based in Canada.

Also another program brought to our attention by one of our members is the walking iniative for all Nova Scotians, which is being run by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. http://www.walkaboutns.ca/

To answer one question some of you had... YES ! IF YOU JOINED ON FACEBOOK YOU ARE A FULL MEMBER!

And last but not least... new medals are in for the Bloodstone Cross for 1000 acts of charity. (you might want to save that 1000th act to help pay for your medal...not nessasry..but it would help as these are payed for privately by members of the council. Just a thought...lol) Hopefully I will be posting pics of te new medallion on the website and facebook site.

Well thats it for now guys keep those acts rollin in, together we can change the world..one little step at a time.
